Tsai books Medigen shot, despite wait

President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) yesterday said that she would get inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by Taiwan-based Medigen Vaccine Biologics Corp (高端疫苗).

Tsai wrote on Facebook that she had registered for her first vaccine dose using the national online COVID-19 vaccination booking system, which allows people to indicate their preferred vaccine brand and to make an appointment when the shot becomes available.

The US might recognize Taiwan if war breaks out in the Taiwan Strait, Legislative Speaker You Si-kun (游錫堃) said yesterday while discussing politics with former president Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁).

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) yesterday filed a lawsuit against President Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) and one of his former top aides, accusing them of corruption for turning the management of Ma’s Facebook page over from the Presidential Office to a private organization without following proper procedures.

“It is ridiculous to turn a -government-funded program into a private asset. President Ma and his re-election campaign office should be held accountable,” DPP spokesman Chuang Ruei-hsiung (莊瑞雄) said outside the Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office.
