First local vaccine batches ready: FDA

The inspection of the first four batches of the domestic COVID-19 vaccine has been completed and the doses are ready to be rolled out, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said yesterday.

US bill to fund ‘honest’ Taiwan maps

The US House of Representatives on Wednesday passed a foreign assistance spending bill with an amendment forbidding that funds be used to create, procure or display maps depicting Taiwan as part of the People’s Republic of China.

The Keelung City Government plans to remove statues that depict Chiang Kai-shek (蔣介石) from the city’s schools and public offices, Keelung Mayor Lin Yu-chang (林右昌) said yesterday.

Casting flowers into the harbor in Keeling, hundreds of people — mostly families of victims of the March 8, 1947, massacre by Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) troops — gathered to remember the tragedy.
