Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) Chairman Wu Den-yih (吳敦義) yesterday defended calling President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) an “ill-starred woman” (衰尾查某, literally “droopy-tailed woman”) on Tuesday, despite criticism from politicians across party lines.

Sweden on Thursday held its first bilateral talks on climate change with Taiwan at the 25th Conference of the Parties (COP25) in Madrid.

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) yesterday said that, if elected in January’s presidential election, she would issue an official apology to the Aborigines on behalf of the government.

She added that she would also push forward reforms of Aboriginal policies on the basis of “equality, dignity and autonomy.”
