Chinese incursions highest since 1996

The number of Chinese incursions into Taiwan’s air defense identification zone (ADIZ) last year was the highest since 1996, with the majority of them occurring in the zone’s southwest, a government-funded report has said.

Trump signs Taiwan Assurance Act

The US$2.3 trillion government spending package that US President Donald Trump finally signed on Sunday evening incorporates the Taiwan Assurance Act of 2020, as well as money to support activities under the Global Cooperation and Training Framework initiative launched in 2015.

Film director Chen Yu-hsun (陳玉勳) recently joined critics in denouncing what he called President Ma Ying-jeou’s (馬英九) “black-box operations” in signing a cross-strait service trade pact, questioning Ma’s motives for keeping the pact secret, while making known to the world that he has two colorectal polyps.

“Why keep the details of the cross-strait service trade agreement from the public and the Legislative Yuan, but announce to the world that two polyps had been found in the entrance of his anus?” Chen said in a message he posted on Facebook on Saturday night.
