Security fears may affect Boai buildings


 

The Presidential Office yesterday said it had asked the Taipei City Government to impose stricter regulations on the height of new buildings in the vicinity of Boai District (博愛特區) to ensure the president’s safety.

Boai District is a special zone where the Presidential Office and presidential residence are situated.

MOJ to probe Chen ‘US agent’ claim

Minister of Justice Wang Ching-feng (王清峰) said yesterday that prosecutors would look into allegations by former president Chen Shui-bian’s (陳水扁) attorney that Chen was an “agent” of the US government.

Wang made the remarks at a meeting of the legislature’s Judiciary and Organic Laws and Statutes Committee.

Tibetan advocates yesterday joined New Power Party (NPP) Legislator Freddy Lim (林昶佐) in launching a petition to invite the Dalai Lama to visit Taiwan this year, and urged civic organizations, religious groups and the public to help make it happen.
