TSU planning no confidence vote against Cabinet

The Taiwan Solidarity Union (TSU) yesterday announced that it would launch a no-confidence vote against the Cabinet, saying President Ma Ying-jeou’s (馬英九) “failed policies” after his re-election are “too much to take” for the public.

TSU Chairman Huang Kun-huei (黃昆輝) said his party would appeal for the Democratic Progressive Party’s (DPP) support on the vote in the legislature.

Tumors spur calls for Chen’s release

Doctors found another small tumor on former president Chen Shui-bian’s (陳水扁) prostate yesterday after he was granted a temporary release from prison for follow-up medical checkups in a hospital.

Chen was transported from Taipei Prison to Taoyuan General Hospital at about 6am.

Dozens of Chen supporters shouted: “A-bian [阿扁, Chen Shui-bian’s nickname] is not guilty, release A-bian” as he arrived in the hospital.
