The New Power Party (NPP) yesterday kept to its promise to bring fresh faces to next year’s legislative elections by adding two more political newcomers to its list of candidates — Freddy Lim (林昶佐) and Hung Tzu-yung (洪慈庸).

Members of dozens of civic groups and about a dozen of the 119 people this week indicted for their activities during the Sunflower movement protests yesterday demonstrated outside the Executive Yuan against the prosecutors’ decision.

Eight Chinese fishermen were apprehended and taken in for questioning yesterday after the Coast Guard Administration (CGA) mounted a commando-style operation to rescue three of its officers the fishermen had allegedly taken hostage in the Taiwan Strait.
