"Our experience in Formosa is most enlightening. The Administration of the former Governor CHen Yi has alienated the people from the Central Government. Many were forced to feel that conditions under autocratic rule [Japan's rule] were preferable.

The Central Government lost a fine opportunity to indicate to the Chinese people and to the world at large its capability to provide honest and efficient administratrion. They cannot attribute their failure to the activities of the Communists or of dissident elements. The people anticipated sincerely and enthusiastically deliverance from the Japanese yoke. However, Chen Yi and his henchmen ruthlessly, corruptly, and avariciously imposed their regime upon a happy and amenable population. The Army conducted themselves as conquerors. Secret police operated freely to intimidate and to facilitate exploitation by Central Government officials....

The island is extremely productive in coal, rice, sugar, cement, fruits and tea. Both hydro and thermal power are abundant. The Japanese had efficiently electrified even remote areas and also established excellent railroad lines and highways. Eighty per cent of the people can read and write, the exact antithesis of conditions prevailing in the mainland of China.

There were indications that Formosans would be receptive toward United States guardianship and United Nations trusteeship. They fear that the Central Government contemplates bleeding their island to support the tottering and corrupt Nanking machine, and I think their fears well founded"

At Taiwan, China's "People's Armed Police," with clubs and riot shields in hand without any mercy frantically beating unarmed and bleeding people who are willing to sacrifice their lives. These people are precisely whom the KMT administration, in control of TV and news media, labels as "violent agitators."

It's precisely these "violent agitators," through their bleeding, and sacrificing of their lives, Taiwan can dissolve the "Ten-Thousand-Year Republic Representatives" (lifetime senators), lift the Martial Law, end the White Terror, and liberalize freedom of assembly, association, press, democracy, human rights, speech, and the right to directly vote for presidency.

Today, China's "People's Armed Police" are implementing Martial Law at Taiwan, China's takeover of Taiwan is imminent. The pain and tragedy of the February 28th 1947 shall again, without discriminating between provencals and mainlanders, equally suffer tragic and ruthless ethnic cleansings and massacre!

A Chinese dissident yesterday warned the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) over a planned shift in position on its China policy and said former premier Frank Hsieh (謝長廷) would lead the party down a path of “political suicide” in his similar attempts to shift plans.

“Beijing has two grand strategies for its absorption of Taiwan. First, economic integration goes before political integration. Second, making the Chinese Nationalist Party [KMT] another Chinese Communist Party [CCP] and the DPP another KMT,” Yuan Hongbing (袁紅冰) told a forum hosted by Beanstalk, a group founded by former secretary-general of the Presidential Office Chen Shih-meng (陳師孟).
