Taiwan thanks US for new arms sales

Three amendments proposed by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) lawmakers, which would abolish government tributes to Republic of China (ROC) founder Sun Yat-sen (孫中山), on Friday passed their first reading at the Legislative Yuan, where they are expected to spark controversy among Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) lawmakers, who have proposed their own amendments.

US authorities had warned Mega International Commercial Bank’s New York branch that it had violated US money laundering regulations as early as 2013, after the bank dramatically increased the size of loans to businesses affiliated with the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT), Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislators said yesterday.
