Exile family to embark on peace march to Tibet

DHARAMSHALA, March 6: Taking voluntary initiative in the face of growing sacrifices in Tibet calling for freedom and the Dalai Lama’s return, a Tibetan exile family has decided to heed to their calls and make the journey back to Tibet.

Tsetan Dorjee, along with his mother and sister will begin their march back to Tibet this Saturday, March 10 – the 53rd anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day.

Tibet continues to burn: Third self-immolation in three days

DHARAMSHALA, March 5: In alarming news coming out of Tibet, another Tibetan died today after setting himself on fire protesting China’s occupation of Tibet.

This is the third self-immolation in as many days.

Dorjee, 18, a native of Cha Shang in the beleaguered Ngaba region of eastern Tibet set himself on fire at around 6.30 pm local time today.

Three people connected with China-funded organizations, including Chou Ke-chi (周克琦) who heads the Gong He Party (共和黨), were indicted yesterday for contravening the Anti-Infiltration Act (反滲透法).

Along with Chou, who also heads the pro-China agitation group 333 Political Alliance (333政黨聯盟), Pan Jindong (潘進東) and Chu Chun-yuan (朱俊源), board members of the Taipei Puxian Association (莆仙同鄉會), were also indicted. Puxian is another name for Putian, a city in China’s Fujian Province.

The three are the first people Taipei prosecutors have charged for contravening the Anti-Infiltration Act since it was passed by the legislature in 2020 to counter the influence of foreign hostile forces seeking to meddle in Taiwan’s elections.
