Reject Beijing, ‘consensus,’ TSU says

The Taiwan Solidarity Union (TSU) yesterday urged the government to take measures in response to China’s obstruction of Taiwan’s participation in this year’s International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) assembly in Canada, with the party calling on the government to openly denounce Beijing and reject the so-called “1992 consensus.”

The National Palace Museum is to remove replicas of artwork donated by Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan (成龍) amid controversy over Chinese attempts at “cultural unification,” museum Director Lin Jeng-yi (林正儀) said at the Legislative Yuan in Taipei yesterday.

The New Power Party (NPP) legislative caucus yesterday issued a survey for the nominees of the Executive Yuan’s transitional justice promotion committee, saying that their answers would be used as a reference for evaluating whether the candidates are suitable for the position.

After the Act on Promoting Transitional Justice (促進轉型正義條例) passed its third reading on Dec. 5 last year, the Executive Yuan on March 27 nominated former Control Yuan member Huang Huang-hsiung (黃煌雄) as the chairman of the nine-member committee, while a few other nominees were announced last week.
