Goddess of Spring and Love

Who is that calling from the depths of the forest?
In the lonely silence of the dawn,
Like the exuberant voice of a silver bell;
Calling whom?
Oh!  Goddess of Love!
Goddess of Spring and Love.

Who is that calling from the depths of the forest?
In the loneliness of the dusk,
Like the exuberant voice of a silver bell,
Traverses the forest,
Oh!  Goddess of Love!
Who is that calling from the depths of the high mountains?

In that forest of my far, far away homeland,
With an exuberant voice.
Someone is calling.
Oh!  Goddess of Love!  Goddess of Spring and Love.
Goddess of Spring and Love.

(This lyric is written by Uyongu Yatauyungana during the early 1950's.  The lyrics depict Yatauyungana's longing for his wife, as well as to comfort and encourage her, while he was held by the KMT regime in the Ching-Tao East Road Detention Center.)
