More than 27% support independence: MAC poll

More than 27 percent of Taiwanese support independence, according to a survey released by the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC).

Hong Kong protesters yesterday rallied in support of demonstrators pushing for a separate Catalonia in northeastern Spain as a Chinese official denounced months of “mad violence” in Hong Kong and forces pushing for independence.

District prosecutors yesterday rejected a request from former president Chen Shui-bian’sdaughter, Chen Hsing-yu, to have her travel restrictions lifted, ruining her plans to study in the US with her three children.

Prosecutors rejected Chen Hsing-yu’s request “to ensure that the litigation process goes smoothly,” said Lin Jinn-tsun, spokesperson for the Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office.
