Wuhan virus cases to face quarantine

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) yesterday said it is preparing to list a viral pneumonia of an unknown cause originating from China’s Wuhan as a category 5 communicable disease.

Taiwanese astronomers designated ‘China Taipei’


A list of approved names of exoplanets on the Web site of Paris-based International Astronomical Union, with Taiwan listed as China Taipei and China listed as China Nanjing.

Taiwanese astronomers who named an exoplanet and the star it orbits have been listed as being from “China Taipei” by the Paris-based International Astronomical Union (IAU), the Astronomical Society of the Republic of China (ASROC) said on Friday.

An investigation team set up by the legislature’s Judiciary and Organic Laws and Statutes Committee that is scheduled to visit Academia Sinica tomorrow is an “intimidation measure,” said an associate research professor at the institution’s Institutum Iurisprudentiae.

Huang Kuo-chang (黃國昌) — a leading figure in the Sunflower movement — yesterday posted on Facebook two scanned copies of legislative documents that said the committee is scheduled to visit Academia Sinica tomorrow to inspect “the condition of its staffing levels and enhancements in performance after the institution’s restructuring.”
