US bill ties WHO funding to Taiwan stance

Two US senators on Tuesday introduced a WHO accountability bill, seeking to withhold US funding until the organization reforms its leadership and accepts Taiwan as a member state.

TSMC to set up wholly owned subsidiary in Japan

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co’s (TSMC, 台積電) board of directors has approved a plan to invest up to ¥18.6 billion (US$177.7 million) to set up a fully owned subsidiary in Japan to expand its 3D semiconductor material research, the company said yesterday.

DHARAMSHALA, June 6: On the eve of presidents Barack Obama and Xi Jinping’s maiden presidential level summit, leaders of a US Congress commission have called on the Obama Administration to embark on a fresh and bold approach to improving conditions in Tibet.

The Congressmen made their remarks at a June 5 hearing on "Human rights in Tibet" summoned by the Congress' Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission.
